This book propelled me back to Trinidad in one night, I virtually read it out in 2 days. Set in rural Trinidad but took me to Port of Spain General Hospital, Trincity and even the old Piarco airport. The author painted such a vivid picture of that time, the environment and the behaviors of the characters that you actually felt as though you met these people at one point or another in your life. She uses the names Peter and Paul for two the main characters in the book which as you read, you discover why. Based on a commonly known local saying β€œPeter pays for Paul, Paul pays for all” The book itself evokes some intense emotions, it stuns you, angers you and also challenges everything you think you know about family and parenting. I am still haunted by this story but I highly recommend this to everyone. Have you read it? Let me know your thoughts.
